President Erdoğan made statements about the tension between Russia and Ukraine. Erdogan said that if Russia or Ukraine were at war, it would be a serious violation of peace in the region.
Regarding the tension, Erdoğan said, “An occupation or war would be a serious violation of regional peace. As this will seriously disturb the region, the situation of Ukraine and Russia, which has a population of 40 million, is already obvious. On the other hand, Russia is the most powerful state in the region. As Turkey, we do not accept any unrest here. Relations with Russia continue quite well. We have a relationship with Russia in a peace that is not in its history. Political, military, economic and cultural relations continue to develop. Likewise, our relations with Ukraine are very good. We cannot accept these positive developments.”
Erdogan also stated that as Turkey they can mediate, “We can be mediators so that peace prevails. I have said before that we are ready for our task. He has a visit to Ukraine in the coming days. Then it could be Moscow,” he said.
“OMICRON CAUSED POSITIVE DEVELOPMENTS”
Making statements about the Omicron cases in Turkey, Erdogan said, “Omicron has been instrumental in even more positive developments. There is an increase in the number of cases, but the transition in the positive direction is rapid. We do not have any problems in our hospitals. The developments are positive. In these troubled times, how fast our hospital constructions went and due to these hospital constructions, the construction of both our city hospitals and other hospitals took place rapidly throughout Turkey. The occupancy rate in hospitals is also not as expected. So we have no worries here either. We are getting better every day. It is important for us that our citizens are also careful. It would be right for us to pay attention to the mask distance cleaning rules. After that, it should not be said why it happened like this. We are sad about that. We are taking all the measures we can and we will continue to do so,” he said.
